Introduction
Faced with major requirements in the field of electronic information, School of Electronic Engineering carries out researches including materials, system integration and application. Meanwhile, featured with the fusion of microwave and optical wave, it has abundant resources of science and education in electronics and optoelectronics. It aims to cultivate high-quality innovative talents who have solid theoretical foundation and outstanding practical ability, can meet social demands, have global views and can be well-rounded. Based on the development of first-class discipline cluster in Information Network Science and Technology as well as A-level subject Electronic Science and Technology, it has three national first-class undergraduate majors including Electronic Information Science and Technology, Electronic Science and Technology and Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering. It also has doctoral programs and post-doctoral research stations in two first-level disciplines: Electronic Science and Technology, and Optical Engineering.
School of Electronic Engineering has more than 270 faculty members. In line with the academic spirit and style of famous scientists and educators such as the academicians Peida Ye and Daxiong Xu, it gathers a number of excellent teachers represented by academicians, candidates of National Talent Program, owners of National Science and Technology Reward, National 973 Program/National Key R&D Program Project Chiefs and Beijing Municipal Renowned Teachers.
The college has 14 research centers, and has established multiple provincial-level key laboratories such as the State Key Laboratory of Information Photonics and Optical Communications. Based on the construction of high-level scientific research bases, the related work of the college has shown a rapid growth in both quality and quantity. In recent years, a number of national major and key scientific research projects have been carried out. The college has got more than 20 awards including National Technological Invention Awards, National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards as well as Provincial and Ministerial Scientific Research Awards.
The college has built a base for attracting innovative talents in core technologies of communications and network. Many world-class academic masters and researchers including the team of Zhores I. Alferov, the Nobel Prize winner in Physics, have been introduced, forming a powerful international research lineup. Besides, the college has hosted several high-level and high-standard international conferences, such as the Asia Communications and Photonics Conference, and set up an academic exchange platform with international high-level universities and research institutions, further enhancing its international influence.
The college has a high-quality teaching and experimental environment. It has the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Electronic Information, the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center of Electronic Information, and the Virtual Teaching and Research Office of Basic Courses in Electronic Information of the Ministry of Education. It has built the Circuit Center, the Electronic Experiment Center, and the EE Innovation Practice Base, undertaking the basic experimental courses of the whole university and the professional experimental courses of the college. It attempts to provide an excellent teaching environment for cultivating students’ ability to analyze and solve problems, engineering practical ability and innovation ability. Moreover, it provides powerful support in sites and technology for the training, design and test of students’ innovative practice.
