This major will focus on the design and application of optoelectronic devices and applied broadband fiber communication systems in the information industry. Graduates may be employed in the ICT industry, as well as in research, product development, and management of optical technology applications. It systematically studies mathematics, physics, basic courses in computer, physical optics, electrodynamics, electronic circuit, digital system and logic design, signal and system, solid state physics and semiconductor physics, communication principle, laser principle and technology, optoelectronics, photoelectric detection and sensing technology, optical fiber communication system, optoelectronic devices and application etc.

The duration of study in this major is four years. Students will be awarded the Bachelor of Engineering Degree after completing all courses stipulated in the training plan and passing the examination.
