On October 24th, the ACP Conference, one of the three major optical communication conferences in the world, was held in Shanghai. On the morning of the first day of the conference, All Optical Service Networks for F5G, an industry forum jointly held by Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. under the name of State Key Laboratory of Information Photonics and Optical Communication, was successfully held. Experts from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and representatives from Huawei attended the forum.

The forum focused on new business requirements such as F5G cloud/home width, new architecture of all-optical service network, new bearing technologies such as photoelectric fusion and OTN small particles, and new business-oriented next generation of new control concepts. Experts and scholars from various fields shared reports from industrial and academic perspectives.

On the first half of the forum, experts from China Information and Communication Institute, China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom gave splendid presentations, proposing the all-optical bearing architecture for high-quality services from the perspective of industry and standards. It also describes the business requirements and key technologies of the new generation of all-optical network, such as 400G/800G large-particle photoelectric fusion, business-oriented OTN small-particle pipeline bearing, and automatic control of the network through ACTN northbound.

On the second half of the forum, experts and professors from the University of Waterloo in Canada, Alibaba Research Center, Tsinghua University, China University of Science and Technology, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications shared reports with rich content. From the perspective of the algorithms and protocols, they made illustrations of how to build the business sense, elastic bandwidth, low latency, and high availability of  all-optical network. They also shared how to realize deterministic low-latency service bearing by elastic optical network slicing algorithm, flexible service awareness by minimalist service protocol, fast bandwidth provision and deterministic performance protection and recovery by efficient connection protocol.

The success of the forum is an exchange and interaction of technical ideas between industry and academia, which strongly promotes the evolution of related research in the field of optical networks towards the direction of deterministic flexible service bearing, and meets the quality assurance requirements of large bandwidth, low delay and high reliability of services in the F5G era. BUPT and Huawei will take this forum as an opportunity, continue to take the building of the national key laboratory as the starting point, aim at the main battlefield of information science, integrate the superior resources of industry, university and research, and make practical actions to cultivate interdisciplinary talents.

At the same time, the forum is significant for the future development of the national key laboratory of information photonics and optical communications. It effectively increases the influence of the lab in the field of optical communication, develops the application of optical communication theory study of our school, and lays a solid foundation for the construction of state key laboratory with industry, university and research cooperation. It will make practical contributions to further improve the international level of optical communication and photonics research in our university, and work with Huawei to create three major highlands of innovation technology incubation, high-end talent gathering and industrial application practice.
