On May 23, 2021, the academic forum "F5G: All-Optical Service Network" was successfully held in Huawei Songshan Lake Base in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. This conference is the first academic forum co-hosted by BUPT and Huawei since their joint laboratory construction. Many experts and scholars from University of Science and Technology of China, Zhengzhou University, Shenzhen University, Suzhou University and other universities were invited to attend the conference and make invitation reports. Representatives from teachers and students of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and representatives from Huawei departments attended the meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss F5G core technologies, clarify the definition of all-optical service network, and promote the further prosperity and development of F5G.
This conference has two sub-forums. In the morning, Xie Gang, senior engineer and head of Huawei satellite networking protocol, presided over the first deterministic business sub-forum.
Feng Haoyu, UTAS TDT manager of Huawei optical product line, and Professor Zhang Jie, deputy director of the state key laboratory of information photonics and optical communication and executive dean of the School of Electronic Engineering of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications attended the ceremony and delivered opening speeches. Professor Zhang Jie briefly introduced the necessity and significance of this conference in his speech. Both of them expressed their warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the guests attending this conference.
Lin Yi, who is in charge of network protocol and standard ecology of Huawei, discussed F5G generation division, deterministic all-optical service network scenario and key technical challenges, and summarized six characteristics and six technical challenges of deterministic all-optical service network. Professor Zhu Chuqing from University of Science and Technology of China proposed that network slicing technology could be used to improve the certainty of deterministic service QoS and event-driven technology deterministic service QoS. In addition, he described three event-driven application scenarios. Zhang Jiawei, associate professor of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, put forward the understanding of three levels of determinacy and introduced the related technologies of deterministic "IP+ optical" edge networking.
In the afternoon, professor Zhu Chuqing from University of Science and Technology of China presided over the second forum cloud-optics fusion.
According to the background of cloud network integration, associate professor Zhu Ruijie of Zhengzhou University proposed cloud-side collaborative service deployment for F5G core network. Professor Chen Bin from Shenzhen University introduced the research on deep reinforcement learning routing algorithm of interconnected elastic optical pipeline between clouds. By introducing deep reinforcement learning, the routing selection strategy was optimized. Yu Zhenming, associate professor of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, introduced the performance detection technology based on multi-task learning and binary neural network, and soft fault management based on digital spectrum, aiming at the fault prediction scenario in the current cloud interconnected optical network. Li Yongcheng, associate professor of Suzhou University, discussed HPC/ AI-oriented resource allocation, all-optical switching architecture design and performance evaluation in cloud data centers. Zhao Yongli, professor of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, pointed out that "dual 5G" supports "dual gigabit", discussed the architecture and background, technology and challenges of all-optical service network, and prospected the architecture and application scenarios of F6G: all-optical service network integrated with heaven and earth.
After the report, professor Zhao Yongli of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications chaired a roundtable discussion, with the participation of all the reporters, and launched a heated discussion on the definition of F5G certainty and the combination of academic industry. At last, Xie Gang from Huawei made a summary of the meeting.
This conference brought together domestic experts and scholars, young students and core R&D personnel in the field of F5G, focusing on the in-depth combination of industry, education and research, realizing the exchange of technologies at different levels, and output a series of innovative ideas. In the future, the two parties plan to carry out various forms of exchanges and cooperation based on the jointly constructed laboratory, centering on the direction of "all-optical service network integrated with heaven and earth", jointly promote the academic and industrial development of all-optical service network, and strive to make contributions to further enhance China's technology leading edge in the field of F5G.
